It’s a boy!!

May 26th, 2011 — 12:46am

Artis John Irwin Clarke was born at 2:20pm on Saturday 21st May, at home.

He is the most placid and beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on…(but of course i hear you all say – I am indeed very biased!)

We are all so happy and blissed out right now, and wanted to share the news with all our supporters!

Thank you so much for all your well wishes in pregnancy, and your continued love for our cakes!

Don’t forget – 4pm TODAY, Network Ten…Everyday Gourmet…get a glimpse of me cooking Earl Grey Tea cakes, and my bump while he was still in my belly!!

Love to you all x

Baking and Babies…

May 17th, 2011 — 11:51pm

Some of you might be aware that I have been baking a little bundle of the non-edible variety!

Well as  D-day draws near, (very very near), all I have wanted to do is bake! Yet another affirmation that nothing bad can come of baked goods.

Yesterday I craved some old fashioned chocolate chip biscuits, and while I was in the store gathering the few items i didn’t have in order to bake the ultimate chocolate chip biccie, i ran into an old friend. It was in that moment I realised how much I fit the typical streoetype of a “craving, rotund, waddling pregnant chick”. In her basket: aged parmesan, rocket, a good olive oil, and fresh pasta. In mine: 99% fat butter, belgian chocolate, and another block of Black and green’s organic chocolate just for good measure!

People SAY “bugger it, you deserve – do it while you can”….I bet that won’t be their opinion if I don’t manage to lose the flab before I venture into the world with bambino for the first time!

It has actually been lovely to take some time off, although my lovely pastry chef Sammie is still rocking it for the St Kilda and Abbotsford Markets each month.

Time at home, preparing a nest, has given me clarity, time to to muse through cook books, and dream of the next metamorphosis of Frank, Food & Me.  It is only fitting that we rebirth in some way, as we welcome a new tiny little member to our baking hood!

I wonder if this little one will love cooking like its mum, or designing houses like its dad?!

So, I haven’t got any answers for you yet…but just to let you know I am ruminating on it…

Very reflective time pregnancy…

Enjoy Abbotsford Market spoils  on 28th May, just in case I am mid birth and I don’t see you!
